Resignation preparation
Resigning from your current employer can prove to be a stressful time for some. To help make resigning easier, there are certain protocols that can be followed:
Protocols
- Inform your manager directly and keep it confidential. Pick a time that is convenient to you both and that gives your manager time to digest the information you have just given them
- Be certain of your reasons for leaving your job
- Write a formal letter of resignation; this acts as a legal document stating the date from which your notice period begins. Download an example resignation letter (doc 24kb)
- Most jobs involve a handover period. Reassure your manager that you will do all you can to help make the changeover as smooth as possible.
